Rapper turned fashion designer Kanye West unveiled his new Yeezy Season 1 clothing line and new sneaker the Yeezy Boost during the first day of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York on Thursday (12 February).

Rows of models, five across, were meticulously inspected by West before fashion fans, including Beyonce, Jay Z and Sean "P Diddy" Combs, were able to view the debut collection.

West took a non-traditional approach to his show, displaying looks for men and women in single file lines.

The mainly muted line full of dark greens, black and taupe, featured pops of maroon and bright salmon.

Some female models were dressed in leggings and crop tops. Men showed off the collection's v-neck and sleeveless looks.

The Yeezy Boost, a high-end shoe which is said to be made with boost cushioning technology, was created in conjunction with athletics company Adidas.

The limited edition trainer will be available in New York on 14 February via a reservation app that will allow buyers to reserve their shoes in advance.
