American rapper Kanye West took reality television star Kim Kardashian and their baby, North West, to Oklahoma following the death of his grandfather.

Portwood Williams, 97, Kanye's late mother's father, died on 10 August. He was buried during a private service at Arlington Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City.

"They brought North to meet some of the family members," an insider told Life & Style magazine, "Kanye's mother, Donda, is also buried in Oklahoma."

The couple skipped the 16th birthday celebrations of Kardashian's sister, Kylie Jenner, which were held in Los Angeles.

"That's why they weren't at [sister] Kylie's birthday. They brought North, too. Her first trip," a source told People.

In February, Williams had revealed that he was happy with his grandson's choice of girlfriend.

"She is beautiful — and she's just as sweet as she is beautiful — and that's what I liked about her!" he said, adding, "She was just down to earth, she's rich, and those kinds of people, they've got everything."

The 36-year-old singer welcomed daughter North with the 31-year-old Kardashian in June. The couple have reportedly made several lavish purchases for their new family home in Los Angeles - including spending £500,000 on gold-plated toilets. It was also reported that Kanye eyed Elvis Presley's former home to settle with his girlfriend.

Meanwhile, Kardashian is already talking about having more children with West.

"She's told friends she wants to have another baby soon, within a year. Kim's a planner and she's always had a timeline in her head. Even before Kanye came into the picture, she wanted kids while she's young," another source told Life & Style magazine.
