Twilight's Kristen Stewart has revealed that all she wanted to do was hide away after her affair with Snowman and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders was exposed.

The 22-year-old actress made headlines this summer after she was caught cheating on her boyfriend and co-star Robert Pattinson.

Her liaison with 41-year-old Sanders was uncovered when pictures of her canoodling with the father-of-four in public were published in Us Weekly.

In the wake of the scandal, she faced a fierce backlash from diehard Twilight fans and was labelled a home wreaker for coming between Sanders and his wife, model Liberty Ross.

Stewart has publicly apologised to her former British lover, the Sun claimed.

Stewart, who is now promoting her latest film, On The Road, confessed that she played ignorant rather than deal with the aftermath.

"If you're honest you'll make mistakes - but that's when the most interesting things happen," she said.

"I used to just stay in my hotel room rather than deal with everything but if you get too caught up in what others think you become a disjointed person."

Stewart and Pattinson, who split up for three months after news of the scandal broke, have since reunited.

"Kristen is working hard to try and force the relationship into what it was before, but the truth is, she's going to have to take it slowly with Robert because he's still having trouble trusting her again," an insider told RadarOnline.

"The problem is he can't forget her infidelity. Kristen claims that she never actually slept with Rupert Sanders but Robert still has that nagging feeling of doubt that she did."
