Leicester City have sacked the three players who were filmed during an orgy in which the players racially abused a woman on a post-season tour of Thailand.

James Pearson, Tom Hopper and Adam Smith have all had their contracts terminated after an internal investigation and disciplinary proceedings. Pearson is the son of Leicester City's current manager, Nigel Pearson.

A short statement from the Premier League club read: "Leicester City Football Club is acutely aware of its position, and that of its players, as a representative of the city of Leicester, the Premier League, the Football Association and the club's supporters. It is committed to promoting a positive message of community and family values and equality, and to upholding the standards expected of a club with its history, tradition and aspirations."

In a video obtained by the Sunday Mirror, Pearson, Hopper and Smith are filmed in a hotel room committed sex acts with the three Thai women, one of who is called a "slit eye" by one of the players.

Pearson, 22, Hopper, 21, and Smith, 22, appear shown lying naked on the bed while the video is being filmed.

During the recording, one of the players is heard calling one of the women "minging – an absolute one out of 10" as the others laugh.

Leicester were on tour in Thailand, home of the Foxes' billionaire owners father and son Vichai and Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha after surviving relegation from the Premier League in the 2014-15 season.

The three players were sent home from the tour at the end of May and later apologised for their behaviour but the club has taken the step of cutting all ties with the trio.
