Lee Thompson Young, best known for his role in Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson, allegedly committed suicide on Monday at the age of 29.

According to a report in TMZ, the young actor's body was found at his home in North Hollywood and it is understood Young's death has been caused due to a self-inflicted gun-shot wound. The reason behind the alleged suicide is not clear.

However, though there is no official confirmation from authorities about Young's death being a suicide, Young's manager, Paul Baruch said in a statement: "It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning ... Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed."

"We ask that you please respect the privacy of his family and friends as this very difficult time," Baruch further said.

According to a report in Time, Young's body was discovered after he failed to show up for the shooting of TNT show Rizzoli & Isles in which he currently appears as Detective Barry Frost.

When Young's landlord was contacted by the show's crew members to check on him, the landlord found him dead.

"Everyone at [the show] is devastated by the news of the passing of Lee Thompson Young. We are beyond heartbroken at the loss of this sweet, gentle, good-hearted, intelligent man. He was truly a member of our family. Lee will be cherished and remembered by all who knew and loved him, both on- and offscreen, for his positive energy, infectious smile and soulful grace", TNT, studio Warner Bros. and series producer Janet Tamaro said in a joint statement.

Young's death is now being investigated by LAPD robbery-homicide detectives and the Los Angeles County coroner office, since it is a high-profile death.

According to Young's biography from TNT, he wanted to be an actor ever since he was 10.

After his debut in Television series with The Famous Jett Jackson, he played various roles in series including The Guardian, Scrubs and Smallville. He has also acted in films like Akeelah and the Bee and The Hills Have Eyes II.
