With a month to go before the iconic Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, model Lily Aldridge unveiled the Fantasy Bra on 2 November, which costs $2m (£1.3m). The custom lingerie is fitted with more than 6,500 precious gems.

The bra created by jeweller Mouawad has diamonds, blue topaz, yellow sapphires and pink quartz all set in 18-carat gold brasserie and was custom designed for Aldridge. The matching briefs have over 100 diamonds and 400 other precious stones. "No, well they fit it to me so it fits kind of perfectly, it's probably the most well fitted thing you could have on the runway, it was designed specifically for me so I feel very good about it," she said.

The Fantasy Bra is a tradition with nearly two decades on the catwalk, previously worn by the likes of Tyra Banks, Adriana Lima and Heidi Klum. While this version is cheaper than previous incarnations, with past versions being valued at upwards of $12.5m, it is still not an option for just anyone's closet. However, Aldridge jokes that everyone should have one.

"I don't know who would wear this but everyone should have one. I don't know, I mean I would just wear it watching TV, casual night in with my husband," the 29-year-old model said. "There's security so when you're wearing the bra, security is close by and he's not going to let anything happen to that bra. I might try and take a few off the side but I think he's watching me."

Aldridge will model the Fantasy Bra at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on 8 December.
