A teenage boy was hit and killed by a train and killed in a suspected suicide, this morning.

A 14-year-old was struck at a level crossing near in Lincoln at around 8.50am.

He was declared dead at the scene, said British Transport Police. It is understood the lad was a runaway whose disappearance had been reported to the authorities.

His family had been informed ahead of formal identification.

Lincolnshire Police officers attended the scene along with medics from the East Midlands ambulance service. Services resumed after they handed back the line to Network Rail at around 9.50am.
