Liverpool's much anticipated clash against their arch-rivals Manchester United at Anfield ended in a goalless draw on 17 October, with the Reds having more possession than Jose Mourinho's side.

The former Real Madrid and Chelsea manager made two changes to his starting lineup, with Ashley Young getting his first league start of the season and Marouane Fellaini partnering Ander Herrera in the midfielder. The Belgium international's inclusion saw Paul Pogba play in the advance position.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic had the best chance to help the visitors get the much needed lead, while David de Gea's two brilliant saves in the second half made sure United kept a clean sheet. Jurgen Klopp started Daniel Sturridge to lead the Merseyside club's attack against the Red Devils.

However, the England international failed to create any trouble for United's defenders and was replaced in the second half by Adam Lallana. Liverpool enjoyed possession for the majority of the game, while the 20-time English champions made sure they restricted the hosts from finding the back of the net.

Imagine the frustration, once you get past the back seven you've got David de Gea there slapping everything away. 😂

Manchester United have spent half a billion in the last 5 years to have Fellaini and Young in midfield. #LFCvMUFC

Chelsea fans complaining about Jose nicking a point against free-scoring Liverpool at Anfield. Same #LFC ended us in 30 mins at the Bridge

If #LFC are going to challenge for league, we really need to find a way to break down these small clubs who play 8 across the back #LIVMUN

A draw after 65% of possession and outshooting them. One point, a clean sheet. Liverpool holds at 4th, only 2 points off the top spot. #LFC https://t.co/SHCOchbVoM

Mourinho is something else. In less than 5 months as Utd boss he's successfully turned Zlatan into Kelvin Davies and Pogba into Kevin Nolan

So imagine signing the likes of Zlatan and Pogba and being proud to play like Stoke City? #ManUtd
