Liverpool are considering a move to sign Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette in the summer transfer window, reports the French newspaper Le10Sport.

The 23-year-old had an impressive spell last season, scoring 15 goals and managing three assists in 36 league appearances. He is believed to be one of the top players at Lyon, along with Clement Grenier, Maxime Gonalons and Samuel Umtiti to attract interest from top clubs across Europe.

Liverpool saw their star player Luis Suarez leave Anfield for Barcelona earlier this month. Brendan Rodgers is looking to add a striker to the squad to bolster the Reds' attacking division for the next season, as they look to challenge for the title and compete in the Champions League.

The same report claims that Premier League clubs Arsenal and Newcastle United, along with 10-time European champions Real Madrid, are also interested in acquiring a deal for Lacazette.

Alan Pardew side's has already signed two Frenchmen in the ongoing transfer window - Remy Cabella and Emmanuel Riviere. The Tyneside club are looking to add Lacazette to the list of French players at St James' Park.

Any move from Newcastle for the striker will be an uphill task. The agent of Lacazette has admitted the striker has set his sights on playing in the Champions League, something that cannot be offered by the Magpies.

"If Alexandre were to leave, he would leave for a team which plays in the Champions League, or at least one which is very close to it," the striker's agent David Venditelli said.

A move to Liverpool could help Lacazette fulfil his dream of featuring in Europe's elite club competition.

Lyon value the striker around €20m and the Ligue 1 outfit's chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has admitted they are keen on keeping Lacazette at the club. He also admitted Lyon have offered the Frenchman a new deal.

"Lacazette? We had lunch with him and his agent yesterday. We are on track to achieving an extension of three years since we confirmed yesterday. It's up to the player," Aulas said, as quoted by Le10Sport.

If the player decides to snub the new deal it would be a massive boost for Liverpool. The Reds are closing in on sealing a move for Queens Park Rangers' Loic Remy.

The Merseyside club could still make an approach for Lacazette even if they sign Remy as Rodgers is looking to allow Fabio Borini join Sunderland for a fee reported to be around £14m.
