Liverpool winger Jordan Ibe is reportedly close to signing a new five-year contract with the club.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the Reds youngster has agreed to the terms of the deal, which will see him remain with the club until the summer of 2020.

Brendan Rodgers is a big admirer of the player and is confident that he is set to become an important player for the Merseyside club in coming years.

Ibe spent the first half of the season on loan at Championship side Derby County, after putting in some impressive performances for the East Midlands club. He was called back to Anfield by the Northern Irishman during the January transfer window.

The 19-year-old winger has since made eight appearances for the club including an eye catching performance during the Merseyside Derby.

But an injury hampered his progress and prevented him from featuring in more games. Ibe has returned from injury and will be part of the Liverpool squad to face West Bromwich Albion on 25 April, as the Reds look to conclude a disappointing season on a high.

The news of him signing a new deal will come as a big boost and it will make him the fourth Liverpool star to commit his future to the Anfield club this season.

Philippe Coutinho, Daniel Sturridge and most recently Jordan Henderson have already penned new deals to remain at the club for the foreseeable future.

The report claims that defender Martin Skrtel, who recently quashed rumours of his possible exit, is also close to committing his future to Liverpool.

Raheem Sterling remains the only player yet to accept the offer on the table, as contract talks with the winger have been shelved until the end of the current campaign.
