Liverpool have reportedly launched a bid for PSV Eindhoven midfielder Zakaria Bakkali, who is dubbed the 'new Eden Hazard'.

According to the Express, the Reds have made an offer and are set to beat Premier League rivals Arsenal to the young midfielder's signature.

The Belgian, who is on the final-year of his contract with the Eredivisie club, has rejected a chance to renew his deal, and because of that, PSV are open to selling him, rather than lose him on a free the following summer.

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that he is in the market for further additions and is said to be keen to bring the youngster, who is touted for big things in the future.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is said to be a big admirer of the midfielder and it is believed that, he could put in a late bid to land the youngster.

The 18-year-old midfielder, who is christened the 'new Eden Hazard', made 25 appearances for his club during the previous campaign and scored four goals.

Apart from the Premier League giants, clubs from all across Europe are keeping tabs on the situation, with reports claiming that La Liga champions Atletico Madrid and Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt have also made offers for Bakkali.

Despite all the interests, Liverpool are said to be leading the race along with Atletico to acquire the young midfielder's services.

Moreover, PSV technical director Marcel Brands has confirmed that the club is willing to sanction the sale of the player, if he wishes to leave for pastures new.

"Whether Bakkali chooses to stay with us or a transfer, it is now clear what he must do," Brands said, as quoted in the Express.

"He can still extend his contract with us and then if he chooses to increase his efforts for PSV, with his heart and soul, that's fine.

"If he chooses a transfer, I am also at peace with it," the PSV technical director added.
