Newcastle United are said to be considering making an offer in January for MK Dons winger Dele Alli who has been attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs.

The 17 year old has excelled since forcing his way into the first team at the League One club and his impressive performances have led to numerous sides making the trip to Stadium MK to watch the youngster in action.

Liverpool have been strongly linked with the winger and do have some connections with the club as manager Karl Robinson previously worked at the Reds youth academy.

The Merseyside club also snapped up teenager Seyi Ojo from MK Dons back in 2011 when he was just 14 years old, with the young attacking midfielder going on to score two goals in 11 appearances for Liverpool's U18s.

While Liverpool are said to be keen to now poach Alli from Robinson's side it seems they will face stiff competition from Newcastle, with the Journal reporting that Alan Pardew sees the youngster as the perfect long term replacement for Jonas Gutierrez.

Dons boss Robinson has previously stated that he is unsurprised that Alli is gaining so much attention as he believes he is one of the most exciting talents in England.

"I've seen him do things in training that I've never seen before. He scores goals, he wins penalties, back heels, nutmegs, driving inside, winning headers and tackles," said Robinson.

"He's got an air of arrogance and confidence about him. He's one of the best young players in England - fact."

Despite his young age and relative lack of first team experience, he has made 17 first team appearances in his short career and Robinson has suggested that he would demand 'millions' for the powerful winger.

"It's going to take millions and millions to sell him," Robinson told MKweb. "I don't want to sell him and the chairman doesn't want to sell him but there will be a day that we have to because he's destined to be a great player."

Newcastle are desperate to strengthen their squad in January after a frustrating summer, but they may well face severe competition for the signature of Alli if he continues to impress for MK Dons in the coming months.
