Paris Saint-Germain have told Liverpool to pay £16m if they are willing to sign Ezequiel Lavezzi in the summer transfer window, reports the Express.

The Argentine international is believed to be surplus to requirements and the Ligue 1 winners want to offload the forward.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League, and Chelsea and Arsenal along with Liverpool have evinced interest in the player.

PSG have spent heavily to sign David Luiz from the Stamford Bridge outfit. The French champions are ready to offload a few of their players as they look to raise funds in order to land Manchester United target and Real Madrid star Angel DI Maria.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is quite keen on bringing Lavezzi to Anfield as he looks to bolster the Merseyside club's squad for the new campaign. A £16m-bid could see the Reds acquire the services of the former Napoli star.

However, Liverpool could face an uphill task in landing the forward as he is eyeing a Serie A return this summer.

The Italian giants Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan are after his signature and the three clubs could enter into a battle to beat the Premier League outfit in landing the PSG star.

The player's agent had earlier stressed that Lavezzi was happy in Paris and his chances of leaving his current employers looked slim.

"Ezequiel will 99 per cent remain at PSG next season. However, anything can happen in the transfer market. But I have said it several times, 'Il Pocho' is happy in Paris and he will not leave," Lavezzi's agent Alejandro Mazzoni said in May.

The Anfield club have already completed deals for Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Emre Can, Lazar Markovic, Dejan Lovren and Divock Origi.

However, the Belgium international will re-join his former club Lille on a season-long loan. A move for Lavezzi is likely to lift the spirits of the squad for the new season.
