Liverpool are close to completing deals for three new players as Sporting Lisbon youngster Tiago Ilori and Paris Saint-German defender Mamadou Sakho are set to follow in the footsteps of Chelsea winger Victor Moses by moving to Anfield.

The Guardian reports that Liverpool have agreed a £1m fee with Chelsea to take Moses on a season-loan loan as negotiations finally came to a close late on Saturday evening.

The Nigeria international has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge after Kevin De Bruyne returned from a loan spell at Werder Bremen, while Andre Schurrle and Willian were signed on permanent deals.

Liverpool have been looking for a replacement for Stewart Downing, who joined West Ham United in a £6m deal, and it seems manager Brendan Rodgers always believed that Moses would be a suitable successor.

There is said to be no agreement in place for the deal to become permanent next summer and Moses will hope to gain plenty of opportunities to show Jose Mourinho why he deserves a chance at Chelsea next season.

While Moses is expected to be announced as a Liverpool player well before the transfer window closes on Monday night, it seems the club may also be able to confirm two new defensive signings in the next 24 hours.

The BBC report that both Ilori and Sakho have completed medicals at Liverpool's training centre in Melwood and will be at Anfield to watch the Reds take on Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

It seems Liverpool will pay £25m for the pair who will substantially strengthen the club's options at centre back after Sebastian Coates was ruled out for the majority of the season.

"Mamadou Sakho and Tiago Ilori have undergone medicals with Liverpool after the Anfield club agreed fees for both central defenders," writes the BBC.

"Sakho, the Paris St-Germain and France defender, will cost Liverpool £18m, while they will pay Sporting Lisbon around £7m for Ilori. Both players are expected to be at Anfield on Sunday to watch the Premier League match with Manchester United."

Ilori, 20, excelled for Sporting last season after breaking into the first team but refused to sign a new contract this summer, while Sakho has struggled to gain regular action at PSG where Alex and Thiago Silva are the preferred defensive pairing.

There could yet be a fourth new arrival at the Merseyside club as it is believed that they are also still negotiating to try and bring Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given to the club as back-up for number one Simon Mignolet.
