Liverpool are preparing a move to sign Barcelona youth academy star Sergi Canos, according to the Daily Express. The 16-year-old is among the brightest disciples of the Spanish clubs' academy but cannot be tied down to a professional contract with the La Liga leaders at his present age.

The report claims that the Merseyside club have been a long-term admirer of the youngster and will do everything in their right to persuade the teenager to move to Anfield. The striker's agent has already been in contact with Liverpool, despite the player unwilling to discuss his future.

However, the English FA allows contracts to be handed out at 16, making it easier for clubs in the Premier League clubs to swoop in for Spanish talent.

Barcelona are trying their best to avoid such misdoings by warning players in the academy not to contact with clubs in Europe seeking a better pay package at such an young age.

The same report also claims Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea have already offered the youngster a £15,000 a week package to ply his trade in England.

Rodgers on Henderson

Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers has praised midfielder Jordan Henderson for his attitude and commitment this season and believes that he will play a more active role in the team when the time arrives. The player is yet to make a start this season after Liverpool's Europa League game against Zenit St.Petersburg at Anfield.

"It's just the balance and it depends on the opponent. Jordan has been excellent and his attitude has been great. The team has been winning as well. But Jordan has been excellent, he's a good player, he's improving tactically all the time and I know if I need to call on him he will be ready," Rodgers told the club website.
