Liverpool appear to be on the verge of finally signing Blackpool captain Charlie Adam after the Tangerines confirmed that they have held initial discussions over a deal for the midfielder.

The Bloomfield Road outfit rejected three bids by the Reds for Adam during the January transfer window but a deal for around £10m is expected to be finalised in the coming days.

Kenny Dalglish is also in the hunt for Birmingham defender Scott Dann as he looks to strengthen the Liverpoool backline. Aston Villa, Stoke City and West Brom are all reportedly interested in the 24-year-old who would cost in the region of £10m.

Maxi Rodriguez could join the exodus from Liverpool's midfield this summer, according to reports in The Guardian. The Argentine has expressed a desire to return to Argentina side Newell's Old Boys, where he began his career.

Rodríguez told the Argentinian newspaper La Capital, "When I left here, I knew I was coming back. The president [Guillermo Lorente] called me and I said yes. Now it depends on the contract I have in Liverpool, maybe that can be loosened a little."

With the acquisition of Jordan Henderson and the expected signing of Adam this week, Kenny Dalglish is looking to overhaul his midfield with younger talent, as well as removing a number of high-earning players from the payroll -- Alberto Aquilani, Joe Cole and Christian Poulsen are all expected to depart.

Another name linked with a move away from the club is the Portuguese international Raul Meireles, with reports in Italy suggesting that Inter Milan are weighing up a bid. The midfielder arrived from Porto last summer for £11.7m and enjoyed a successful debut campaign. However, he wasn't always utilised in his favoured central midfield role and Liverpool would recoup most of their outlay on the player should they choose to cash in this summer.
