Liverpool have reportedly held talks with Paris Saint-Germain regarding a summer move for want away left- back Lucas Digne, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

Brendan Rodgers has been one of the busiest managers during the ongoing summer transfer window, and has already brought in seven players.

The Northern Irishman has strengthened all areas of the pitch, and is said to be keen to sign a left-sided full-back to provide competition for first-choice Alberto Moreno. He has already brought in Nathaniel Clyne to replace Glen Johnson at right-back and it is likely that left-back Jose Enrique will also be offloaded, after he was left out of the Reds' pre-season tour of Australia and Asia.

Digne joined the Ligue 1 champions from Lille in 2013, but has failed to nail down a regular place in the first-team making just 30 appearances so far. Last season the young defender made only 15 appearances in the league as Laurent Blanc preferred Maxwell to the French international.

This lack of regular game time has frustrated the former Lille defender, and he has indicated to the manager that he would like to leave the club this summer and is reportedly open to the idea of moving to Liverpool. However, the manager is not keen to let the young defender leave the club and is hopeful that he will remain with PSG beyond this summer.

"First, it is he who very clearly asked to leave. For now, he is with us, he is very professional, he trains very well and has prepared excellently. He has shown the results in friendlies," Blanc is quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo.

"This is firstly a very good thing for him and possibly for us, should he stay with us this season," the French manager added.
