Leicester City will take on Liverpool for the New Year's day Premier League clash at Anfield on Thursday.

Where to watch

Kick-off is at 3pm GMT. Catch the highlights of the game on Match of the Day on BBC One and BBC One HD at 10:35pm GMT.

Overview

Liverpool have started to bounce back after their 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United at Old Trafford earlier this month. Despite having better shots on target than United, the Merseyside club failed to put the ball past David De Gea.

Since the defeat, the Reds have qualified for the last four of the Capital One Cup and have been unbeaten in the last three league matches, winning two of them in the process. In the last league match, Brendan Rodgers saw his side seal a 4-1 victory over his former club Swansea City.

Meanwhile, the Foxes on the other hand, are struggling as they have managed only three wins – including one against Manchester United – so far this season. Their poor form has seen them sit at the bottom of the table.

Leicester avoided a defeat in their last fixture as they registered a narrow 1-0 away win over Hull City. Nigel Pearson will be hoping his side can manage another win and seal a major upset by defeating Liverpool on New Year's day.

What managers say

Brendan Rodgers: "We are a team that plays with a big pressure. We have technically gifted players in the team but that ability to press the ball allows them to go and create chances at the top end of the field. We ask the players at the top end to press, and Adam has got his reward."

Nigel Pearson: "From looking at the stats from the other day, both sides were not at the same physical level as the Boxing Day game. I would imagine that would be very similar throughout the divisions. Now we have to consider whether further changes for the next game are beneficial."
