Eduardo Vargas is on the verge of a move to Europe, with Liverpool leading the race to sign the Chilean winger, according to his agent.

Vargas, 22, has been widely linked with a move to a number of top European sides, with Arsenal, AC Milan and Inter Milan all readying January bids.

The Italian duo have already opened talks with the Universidad de Chile midfielder, however Liverpool are believed to be weighing up an offer when the transfer window opens on 1 Jan.

"The clubs are speaking a lot but little progress has been made," Diego Cativa told supervasco.com.

"We are talking with AC Milan and Inter Milan, who have made proposals, as well as with Liverpool, Arsenal and a number of other clubs.

"Interest from Vasco de Gama? They cannot compete with the clubs that are already interested."

The Liverpool target has made nine appearances for the Chilean national side since making his debut in 2009, scoring two goals.

The 22-year-old has been in scintillating form this season, scoring 22 goals and providing 11 assists in all competitions.
