A man has today (22 October) been arrested in London on suspicion of attending a terrorist training camp in Syria.

Scotland Yard's counter-terrorism unit arrested the 32-year-old man and took him to a London police station, where he remains.

The man is suspected of "attending a place used for terrorist training", a Metropolitan Police Service statement said.

Address in west and south-west London are being searched as part of the investigation.

News of the man's arrest comes hours after the Met revealed a 25-year-old Bedfordshire woman had also been arrested for "Syria related" offences.

She was detained at a central London police station where she remains in custody.

Met commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe this week said at least five Britons a week are travelling to Syria to fight for the so-called Islamic State, or Isis.
