A London Underground worker has been stabbed in the face at Lancaster Gate station.

Police officers rushed to the Central Line station at 10.40am and arrested a 40-year-old man in connection with the assault.

The station was closed until 12.15pm following the incident.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: "Our officers were called to the booking hall at Lancaster Gate London Underground station at 10.40am on Friday, 23 January. A member of station staff had been stabbed in the face."
