The Los Angeles City Council are in the process of passing a law that will force all actors participating in porn films to wear condoms during sex scenes.

This is the first law of its kind in the US and all parties involved have said the impact will be significant on the industry.

Councilman Paul Koretz said. "This is a no-brainer of an issue. It's not going to cost us very much to enforce — we won't spend any more money enforcing this than we do any other law. And in this case, if you don't follow the law, it will be on film."

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation have been pushing for the new law for many years.

The Los Angeles Police Department will now be at liberty to perform random checks on any pornographic film location once the law has passed.

The President of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Michael Weinstein, said: "The most important thing about this is that this is the first political body to pass legislation requiring regulation. When push comes to shove, people know this was the right thing to do."
