Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has tipped the Old Trafford club as favourites to lift the FA Cup come May.

The Red Devils beat Cambridge United 3-0 in a fourth round replay at Old Trafford on Tuesday and following the game, the Dutch manager claimed that since they are the highest qualified team, they are most likely to win the competition.

The manager claimed that people will be betting on United to go all the way in the tournament. These comments are similar to that of Arsene Wenger, who also claimed that Arsenal are one of the favourites for the cup following their win over Brighton & Hove Albion, especially as they are the holders of the trophy.

"We have a real chance now. Why? We are the highest qualified team in the FA Cup so our status is that we are the highest club so the possibility is there," Van Gaal said, as quoted by Manchester Evening News.

"People are maybe betting on us. I am not allowed to. But I could give you a tip," the Dutchman added.

However, the former Bayern Munich coach did acknowledge the presence of the Gunners and rivals Liverpool, who are yet to come through their fourth round replay against Bolton Wanderers, which takes place on Wednesday.

But according to the Red Devils it is one of these top three teams left in the competition, who will most likely lift the trophy in May.

"But Arsenal is still in the cup and they are also a very high competitor. Liverpool is also there and will fight against Bolton but they are still in there."

"I am not a casino man. But of course I think the highest qualified teams have more possibilities to win than lower qualified teams," the United manager concluded.
