Lumia 950, 950 XL firmware update
New firmware for Lumia 950 and 950 XL brings double-tap-to-wake feature Microsoft

The double-tap-to-wake feature is now available for Lumia 950 and 950 XL users in the UK, finally! The feature that is a part of a firmware update, is currently seeding for unlocked Lumia models. The update for UK users comes almost two months after it was rolled out in the US, Canada and North America market.

If you also own an unlocked Lumia 950 or its XL model, head over to Settings>> Update & security>> Phone update>> Check for updates to grab the OTA update. But it is important to note that the availability of the update might depend on phone, region and network operators.

"Finally!!! I have just updated via OTA. In the UK using Three on an unlocked Lumia 950 XL purchased direct from Microsoft Store UK. I only had to wait a week short of two months for MS to finally offer this important update OTA," reported a user on Microsoft community forum.

The double-tap-to-wake feature debuted with Windows Phone 8.1 as a built-in feature, which allows turning the phone's screen on simply by double tapping it.

This feature was not present in Windows 10 Mobile. But Microsoft's Gabriel Aul tweeted in April that users need to upvote in Feedback Hub, if they want to get it back. Microsoft has now released this feature for users in the UK, reports MSPoweruser.

Other key elements of the OTA update are Wi-Fi connectivity improvements, including fixes unstable connection and Wi-Fi scan not returning any results. Besides, there are improvements for Bluetooth, stability and reliability.

Camera improvements include enhanced image and video quality, auto-focus, and a fix for a problem that cause slow motion capture to skip frames for some users. There are also improvements for cellular connectivity and audio quality.
