A man has been charged with the murder of his identical twin brother in a New Year's Eve brawl.

Christopher Cerqua, 31, suffered serious injuries following an altercation at his Hampshire home on December 31.

Police were called to an address on Langdown Road in Hythe, Southampton, at 9pm following reports of trouble inside the property.

The victim was rushed to Southampton General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

His brother Robert Cerqua, who lived at the same address, was charged with his murder after spending almost 48 hours in police custody.

Robert will appear at Southampton Magistrates' Court on Friday.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out. The cause of Christopher Cerqua's death is yet to be released.
