Pellegrini Delighted At Champions League Last 16 Place
Manuel Pellegrini is keen on add young talent to Manchester City squad.

Manchester City are trying to secure the services of Celta Vigo youngster Santi Mina before the transfer window closes.

The Spanish Under-19 international forward is considered one of the jewels of La Liga and despite having turned 18 last month he has made a great impact during the first part of the season playing in the Celta first team.

Spanish newspaper AS report that a number of clubs have been monitoring his development for a while and that City are leading the race to secure his services.

According to the reports, the Premier League giant have already started the negotiations with Mina's agent, the prestigious Jorge Mendes, and they are set to submit a bid to Celta to sign him in the last days of the transfer window as Manuel Pellegrini plots adding some young talent to the squad.

With Alvaro Negredo, Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic at Manchester City it looks unlikely that Mina will have the chance to get regular playing time in Premier League but he is tempted to move to England as he knows that it would be a huge step in his career.

The Spanish youngster made his official debut with Celta last February, scoring 27 goals in 17 games for the youth team, and since then he has impressed at La Liga.

The hugely talented forward is compared with current Liverpool striker Iago Aspas, who also grew at Celta ranks, and this season he has scored two goals despite he has started just nine games.

Celta manager Luis Enrique praised him recently after the 18-year-old scored the only goal in his team 1-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao.

"Santi is a rough diamond. He's very hungry to do well and is craving to play," he said.
