Manchester City will host Viktoria Plzen at the Etihad on Wednesday as the Citizens look to keep their hopes alive of topping their group.

Where to Watch Live

Kick-off is set for 7:45pm GMT. Live coverage will be available on Sky Sports 4 and Sky Sports 4 HD.

Overview

Manchester City have been in rampant form this season, scoring for fun at home in the Premier League against quality opposition. They come into the game on the back of an exhilarating 6-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur where they completely annihilated the opposition and made the best defence in the league look like a bunch of amateurs through their execution.

This is the first time in three years that City have qualified for the knockout stages, failing in two attempts under former manager Roberto Mancini. However, their stay may be short-lived if they finish second as they can potentially draw the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus and Barcelona who are likely to top their group. Bayern Munich are currently the leaders, having won all their games and for City to triumph over the defending European Champions they have to beat them at the Allianz Arena in their final group game. However, a loss here will put to bed any hope they have of overpowering Bayern who have been in rampant form thus far.

Plzen, on the other hand, are bottom of group D with one point from their last four games and are likely to miss out on European football this time around. A win here will take them closer to Europa League qualification and keep their challenge alive in Europe. The Czech Republic side are in better form in the league, having won their game against Zbrojovka Brno 3-1 on Friday and will be looking to pull off a major upset against City who have scored 37 goals in their nine games played at the Etihad.

What the Managers Say

Pavel Vrba :"We have watched highlights of their games and can see they're a very strong team. They've got a busy schedule though, so we're hoping they might not play their strongest side. Any game from now on is huge experience for us and we'll be aiming to give them something of a hard time."

Manuel Pellegrini: "On Wednesday he[Joe Hart] will start then the next game we'll talk about who will start playing. The important thing for Joe is he will play on Wednesday and we hope he will have a very good performance."
