Manchester United have completed the signing of Manchester City youngster Frederic Veseli, after the 19 year old was connected with a shock move to the club this morning.

Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted all month that United wouldn't sign any fresh faces, but the manager's head was obviously turned by the starlet, who will link up with the Red Devils' reserve squad.

A Swiss international, Veseli has impressed in City's youth program and is one of many players Ferguson has brought in to keep with a long-term goal for success at Old Trafford.

"I am very happy and it is an honour to sign for Manchester United," he told the official United website. "I can't wait to get started, to work hard and do everything I can to help the team. I am looking forward to showing everybody what I can do on the pitch."

"I am very thankful to Sir Alex Ferguson for bringing me to such a great club. Manchester United has a long history of younger players coming through and hopefully I can follow and do the same."

While Veseli has experienced first team football with Manchester City in the club's pre-season tour of north America, he has yet to see action in a senior competitive match.

While he won't be included in the starting line-up at United just yet, if injuries do continue to pile up at the side, Ferguson will now have more depth in defence as the English giants push City for the title.
