Manchester United will have Eric Bailly available for their Europa League semi-final clash against Celta Vigo on Thursday evening (4 May) but Luke Shaw will miss the rest of the season with a foot problem, Jose Mourinho has confirmed.

Mourinho, who also revealed that Paul Pogba, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones are available for the battle at the Balaidos, commended Bailly's willingness to "fight against every problem" and is delighted to have the Ivory Coast international at his disposal.

However, Manchester United are still waiting for further medical advice on Shaw's injury, and Mourinho saw fit to rule him out for the remainder of the campaign.

"[Eric] Bailly is ready to play," the Manchester United boss said in his press conference. "He is the kind of personality that fights against every problem, even if it is impossible. He is ready to play."

"Luke Shaw is injured - an important injury obviously but we are still waiting for one more medical opinion and for the medical department to decide what to do. He is out for the season."

Mourinho also spoke about the condition of Spanish playmaker Juan Mata, who has been one of Manchester United's best players this season. Mata recently returned to the first-team fold after recovering quicker than expected from a groin problem, and while Mourinho has no doubt the former Chelsea star can contribute in Spain, he is keen to limit his game time to reduce the chances of another injury.

"Mata was injured for a while but he is ready to play," said Mourinho. "He is experienced, he is one of the few players that has played European semi finals and finals. But the only risk is he cannot play 90 minutes but that is the risk of if he starts, does he finish? If he comes from the bench no problem for him to play. He is selected and he can perfectly make a contribution."
