Manchester United target Felipe Anderson is not moving out of Lazio in January, according to the agent group representing the midfielder. There has been talk in the press of the player having a gentleman's agreement with United to join Old Trafford in January but no deal seems to be likely following the recent revelations.

The Red Devils have been major fans of the Brazilian playmaker and were linked last summer, only for the move to fall through. It was expected that Louis van Gaal will move back in for the Serie A midfielder but there has been no advance on the part of the Premier League club.

"Contrary to reports, Felipe Anderson has not agreed a deal to leave Lazio and join anyone else," Base Soccer told ESPN FC. Felipe is doing well at Lazio and is only focused on doing his best for them."

The news will come as a massive boost for Lazio, who are dependent on the player for providing the creative spark from midfield. He has already scored four and assisted one thus far. They are doing well in the league, on 6th spot, three points behind a top three finish which will take them to qualify for the Champions League next season.

On the other hand, United have forfeited their best chance for a trophy this season with a fourth round loss on penalties to Middlesbrough in the League Cup. The Red Devils were held to a 0-0 draw by the Championship club, who managed to keep their cool during the penalty shoot-out and sealed United's exit out of the tournament.

Meanwhile in the league, United are keeping pace with Arsenal and Manchester City, following a 0-0 draw with the Citizens at Old Trafford last weekend. This has kept them only two points adrift of a place at the top of the table with 10 games gone in the season.
