Manchester United have reportedly approached Paris Saint-Germain with regards to a last minute move for Marquinhos ahead of transfer deadline day on Tuesday.

According to French newspaper Le10 Sport, the Red Devils, who have shown interest in the defender earlier in the transfer window are now keen on taking the Brazilian to Old Trafford before the end of the ongoing transfer window.

Louis van Gaal is looking to strengthen his defence and reports suggested that he has made finding a centre-back and a right back a priority and hence has also been linked to Southampton's Nathaniel Clyne in recent weeks.

The report claim that, United have contacted the Ligue 1 club's authorities to negotiate a move for the former AS Roma defender, but the club will have to come up with a fee over the £30m mark to convince their French counterparts to sell.

Earlier in the month, Marquinhos' agent Giuliano Bertolucci had revealed that the 20-time English champions are one among the clubs that are interested in signing his client.

The Brazilian international is said to be disappointed at the lack of game time following the arrival of compatriot David Luiz, and the report claims that the PSG defender is willing to move away from the club and take on a fresh challenge at Old Trafford.

It is believed that the French champions could be open to discussing a transfer for the defender and the report also suggests that despite there being limited time left in the window, it is possible that Marquinhos could become a United player in the next 48 hours.

However, there is one issue concerning the French club if the transfer goes through, that is with regards to finding a replacement for Marquinhos, as there is less than 48 hours remaining for the transfer window to slam shut.
