Manchester United's record signing Angel Di Maria "already has one foot" at Paris Saint-Germain, reaching an agreement ahead of a deal that could be closed for around €60m (£43m), according to French newspaper Le Parisien.

The Argentina international moved to Old Trafford last summer, with the club paying Real Madrid £59.7m for his services on the back of an impressive Champions League-winning campaign at the Bernabeu .

But his future in Manchester has been under scrutiny in recent times with Louis van Gaal seemingly unconvinced that he deserves a regular place in his starting eleven.

Di Maria recently admitted his frustration about the situation during an interview with Ole, but said he had no plans to leave.

"No [I haven't considered leaving], because I'm not thinking like that. I like to deal with things," he said.

But Spanish newspaper Sport reported at the end of June that Barcelona were monitoring the situation as Van Gaal would be happy to let him go.

And Le Parisien now reports that Di Maria is on the brink of a move to PSG, who have already reached an agreement to make him one of the side's best-paid players. They now hope to convince United that €60m would be enough to seal the deal.

The Ligue 1 champions were strongly linked with the player's signature last summer, but had to hold off due to Financial Fair Play legislation.

But Le Parisien says the French billionaires are now cleared to secure their target, after Uefa lifted spending restrictions on both them and Manchester City.

Bayern Munich, who had also been linked with the player, opted to sign Douglas Costa from Shakhtar Donetsk instead.
