Phil Jones is hopeful of making his Manchester United return against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, after making a quicker than expected recovery from an injury to his cheekbone.

Jones was taken off in United's 5-0 win at Fulham after he was caught by an elbow from Clint Dempsey.

Manchester United initially feared he may have broken his jaw but X-rays revealed no major damage.

The 19-year-old is likely to return for this weekend's clash at Old Trafford and the player admits it will be "very weird" to face the club he left for Manchester United in the summer.

"I'm still a massive fan - as soon as we come off the pitch I always look to see how Blackburn have got on. I still have a lot of friends at the club," Jones told the official Manchester United Web site.

"I'm sure they'll kick on and things will improve. They're a lot better than their league position shows. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, they're at the bottom of the table now.

"We won't find it easy, though. It's going to be tough. I know what sort of squad Blackburn have and there are some cracking players there. We can't take them lightly."

"Ever since I arrived I've been made to feel welcome," he added. "I've settled in quickly and I'm really enjoying my football, probably more so than ever before. I just hope I can continue at United for a very long time."
