The Daily Mail claim Paul Pogba is nearing an exit from Manchester United amid mounting interest from Serie A giants Juventus.

Having allowed Ravel Morrison to leave Old Trafford in last month's transfer window, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has already stated his intention to retain the prodigiously gifted Frenchman.

In the aftermath of Pogba's Manchester United Premier League debut against Stoke City, the Scot confirmed the 18-year-old midfielder remained locked in discussions over a contract extension and that it was "obvious" the youngster wanted to remain at Old Trafford.

"Pogba did very well." The Manchester United manager told Sky Sports after watching his side beat Stoke last month.

"The boy has great talent and tremendous physique for an 18-year-old. You can't believe it.

"We are negotiating his contract at the moment. It is a bit complicated at the moment because he has changed his agent a couple of times.

"But the boy wants to stay, that is obvious. Hopefully we can get it done soon."

Despite Ferguson's claims that Pogba is eager to extend his fledgling Manchester United career, the Mail suggest to the contrary.

The aforementioned source report Pogba's agent watched Juventus beat AC Milan in the first leg of the Italian Cup semi-final on Wednesday, suggesting the Frenchman is nearing a move to Turin at the end of his Manchester United contract in the summer.
