Manchester United Ashley Young is back in training with the Red Devils ahead of their crunch Europa League tie against Liverpool at Old Trafford. The Red Devils face the unenviable task of having to overturn a two-goal deficit, having been beaten comprehensively by the Reds at Anfield last week.

The Mirror reports that the winger, who can also play at full-back, is back training with United and can be a surprise addition to the first team squad against Liverpool. Defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson was also back in training, giving manager Louis van Gaal a major boost ahead of the business end of the season. The Red Devils also welcome back Bastian Schweinsteiger and Jesse Lingard into the mix as they look to achieve the impossible against a buoyant Liverpool side, who will come into the game in high spirits.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils have gone three games without a win and were on the verge of being knocked out of the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, saved only a by a last ditch goal by Anthony Martial that took the game to a replay against West Ham. However, the news does not bode well for Wayne Rooney, who has suffered a setback in his recovery from injury, putting his return back by over a month.

The England international was ruled out with a knee injury after the game against Sunderland in February and was expected to be back in action after the international break. However, recent reports suggest that he would struggle to make it to the European Championships in France later in the year, with manager Roy Hodgson unwilling to risk anyone who is not 100% fit.

The under-fire manager has recently refused to accept that his philosophy has gone off the mark and insists that the results over the last couple of seasons show that it has not always been a miss in terms of implementation. The Red Devils are currently in sixth spot, four points adrift of Manchester City, who are in fourth spot.
