Manchester United star Angel Di Maria's agent Jorge Mendes has reportedly arrived in Paris to open talks regarding a summer move to Paris Saint-Germain, according to a report in Goal.

The Argentine winger, who is currently on holiday following his participation in the recently concluded Copa America, had a difficult 2014/15 campaign with the Red Devils following his arrival from Real Madrid in a British-record deal last summer.

Di Maria managed just 20 league starts and owing to a drop in performance after an impressive start, he lost his place in the team and failed to start a game for Louis van Gaal since United's loss to Arsenal in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on 9 March.

The 27-year-old winger's agent is reported to have landed in Paris and held talks with the Ligue 1 club's officials over a proposed move, with the report claiming that the 20-time English champions have also dispatched a representative to overlook and propose a player exchange offer.

United are keen on signing a forward, and according to the Guardian, are keen on signing Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani, who has hinted that he could move away this summer, after admitting his frustration at being played out of position by Laurent Blanc.

The French club's manager had admitted recently that he was still interested in taking the winger to the Parc des Princes after missing out last summer due to Financial Fair Play restrictions (FFP).

"Yes, I like him very much. We have our priorities," Blanc told L'equipe, as quoted by Sky Sports.

"But to strengthen such a team you must target guys who are at big clubs and who are not easy to prise away. That's hardest for PSG."

"Di Maria, he's good. We have more freedom, but it remains a difficult project for us because we're not alone in wanting him," the Ligue 1 manager explained.

According to the Guardian, PSG are considering a £47m ($73m) bid for the winger, but could reach a compromise if according to the Goal report, Cavani is interested in moving the other way to replace Robin van Persie, who completed his move to Fenerbahce on Tuesday, 14 July.
