Ashley Young has lauded Antonio Valencia's performances for Manchester United this season, with the fellow wingers working hard to take the club into pole position for a record 20th title.

Young has only been at Old Trafford since last summer, though it would be hard to tell considering how quickly he has adapted to the English giants.

And the England international has singled Valencia out for special praise, insisting he has been the best in the Premier League this season.

"I don't think there's been a better winger this season," Valencia told the official United website.

Antonio Valencia
Antonio Valencia has been an integral part of the Manchester United squad.

"He's like a steam train when he's running at defenders. He's so strong and his delivery is brilliant. His goal at Blackburn typified the kind of form he's been in week-in, week-out since he came back."

Young is yet another member of the United squad who embodies the team spirit that the side have become well known for. While many opposing players complain about not getting chosen to start, Young feels that having high competition for each position is what makes the Red Devils a great force.

"To have that competition for places is great for the team although it creates a bit of a headache for the manager!" he quipped.

"When you've got Giggsy, Antonio, Nani and Ji around, you know you need to be on your toes, training well and, when you get your chance, delivering for the team."

Meanwhile, Young has his eyes set firmly on winning the title in his first season with United, and believes that winning the trophy after City were favourites almost all season would mean everything.

"It would mean everything," he explained. "There have been ups and downs during the season, but we've got ourselves into a great position and we've got to make sure we finish the job now."
