Mario Balotelli's transfer from City to AC Milan may have officially gone through, but there's still plenty of deals to be made in the final few hours of the January transfer window.

Metro reports that Spurs are looking to swap defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto for Inter Milan player Alvaro Periera, who Andre Villas-Boas knows from his days in charge of Porto.

Everton, after pulling the plug on their £8.6m bid for FC Twente forward Leroy Fer after failing to renegotiate the deal, are reportedly looking to sign Sevilla striker Alvaro Negred. Although priced at £13m by Seville, the Andalusian club are currently mired in financial troubles, giving the Toffees hope of striking a deal.

Elsewhere Norwich are still keen on signing Celtic striker Gary Hooper, despite having three deals rejected, Chelsea wants Birmingham keeper Jack Butland, and Liverpool and Swansea are keen on Blackpool's Tome Ince.

But the biggest player in the frantic final hours before the window shuts is likely to be Harry Redknapp, as he looks to bring in the players need to pull off a miraculous escape from relegation for rock-bottom QPR. He's confirmed the signing of Chris Samba, pending a medical, and has also been linked to David Bentley, Jermaine Jenas, Peter Odemwingie and Peter Crouch.
