Coca-Cola Hellenic, the world's second largest Coke bottler, saw net profits rise 32% in the first half of 2015. Reuters

The FTSE continued to edge downward on Thursday 13 August, but only slightly, as the currency devaluation China saw the day before continued to weigh on international markets.

"China has been the pearl to be sought after in recent years, yet signs of a slowdown in growth has left canny investors worried, leading them towards safe haven assets, such as bonds," said AJ Bell investment director, Russ Mould. "Volatility is set continue for some time, as investors get their collective heads around global economic issues, which aren't likely to be remedied quickly."

Overall, the market edged down -0.04% to settle at 6,571.19p. Its biggest gains went to Coca-Cola Hellenic, which rose +7.33%. Early in the day, the world's second largest bottler of Coke gained 10% in value after it beat expectations in the first half of the year by raising net profits nearly 32% to €125.2m (£89.3, $139.4).
