Juventus have identified Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic as a replacement for Paul Pogba. The France international's future at the Turin club remains uncertain as he is wanted by Manchester United and Real Madrid.

According to the Daily Mail, Matic has emerged as a favourite to take Pogba's place in the Italian outfit's squad. The Blues player tops Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri's wishlist as he has resigned to losing Pogba in the summer transfer window.

Pogba is closing in on re-joining the Red Devils for a world-record fee of £100m ($131.3m), despite interest from the Spanish capital club. The Serie A winners will use the funds in signing Arsenal target and Napoli star Gonzalo Higuain and a midfielder.

The Argentine international, who has a €94m (£79m, $103.1m) release clause in his contract, has completed his Juventus medical in Madrid, reports the Mirror. Following his capture, Allegri wants to land another player to add more steel in the centre of the pitch.

Antonio Conte's Chelsea have already completed the signing of N'Golo Kante from Leicester City for a fee of £30m ($39.4m). The former Italy coach has strengthened his midfield and the arrival of Kante has raised questions over Matic's future at Stamford Bridge.

Kante's arrival will see Matic fight with the Premier League winning midfielder for a place in the starting lineup if he decides to continue at the Stamford Bridge. The Blues are open to the idea of sanctioning Matic's sale.

Chelsea would use the funds in helping Conte complete four more signings this summer if they receive a sizeable offer. The Serbian midfielder is wanted by Allegri at Juventus, who confirmed that his side are in talks with United over Pogba's transfer.

"Pogba is a Juventus player at the moment but we don't know what is going to happen. The club are looking after negotiations," Allegri explained.

Should Pogba move to United, he will be Jose Mourinho's fourth signing of the summer. The Red Devils have already added defender Eric Bailly, Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to their squad.

Juventus have also identified Newcastle United star Moussa Sissoko as an alternative to Matic. However, Sissoko had earlier admitted that his priority is to continue in England and it would be difficult for Allegri to convince the Euro 2016 midfielder to move to Italy.
