AC Milan are close to securing a loan move for Roma striker Mattia Destro, who is currently undergoing a medical at AC Milan.

Tottenham Hotspur were heavily linked with a £20m deal for the player, but Milan moved first to initiate the transfer, which should be completed by the end of the day.

The striker has scored five goals this season for the Serie A club, but was struggling to get into the first team, which was the prime reason behind the transfer.

Milan have the option to buy him after the end of the season and Destro is willing to put his best foot forward to help Milan close in on a Champions League spot, which currently eludes them by 10 points.

The striker revealed that he has already talked with the manager and set his priorities for the rest of the season and is raring to start his campaign against Parma next weekend.

"It was a wonderful welcome. I am very happy to be here and to be a part of this group. I have already spoken to coach Inzaghi, there is a big desire to do well and to show that Milan are a great side, starting as of this Sunday. I cannot wait to get out on the pitch and play," he told Milan's official website.

"The coach will decide my role. Shirt number? I haven't yet chosen, I will choose it in the coming hours. This is a big occasion for me, I cannot wait to play and get to know everyone. I want to say a big hello to the fans, we will do everything to do really well in the league," he added.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are keeping an eye out for Burnley striker Danny Ings and are also preparing a last minute deal for Everton frontman Kevin Mirallas. The north London club have reached the finals of the Capital One Cup, where they will face Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino is looking to tie up any loose ends to secure their first trophy in over five years.
