Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly preparing a January clear-out as he has doubts regarding the competitiveness and strength of his team.

According to the Independent, England duo Andros Townsend and Aaron Lennon along with Belgian Mousa Dembele will be allowed to leave during the January transfer window.

Apart from the above mentioned trio, Kyle Naughton, Paulinho, Vlad Chiriches and Roberto Soldado could also be let off following the Spurs' poor start in the League.

The north London club have only managed 14 points from their 11 league games and are currently languishing in 12th place in the Premier League. They have also struggled at home, and have won just one of their last five games at White Hart Lane and this has frustrated supporters, who booed their team following their disappointing loss to Stoke City recently.

Spurs striker Emmanuel Adebayor recently blamed fans for the team's bad performance and feels that players prefer playing away from home rather than at the Lane as supporters are not behind rooting for the team.

Pochettino, who signed a five-year deal after leaving Southampton in the summer, has cut a frustrated figure in recent weeks and though his job is safe, he will come under scrutiny if the Spurs continue to perform poorly during Christmas period.

The Argentine manager is hoping to clear out a few players from the team and wants full support of the board during the January transfer window to strengthen the club with the players he has earmarked.

The Tottenham boss is keen on players they missed out during summer and will revive his interest in Southampton duo Morgan Schneiderlin and Jay Rodrigues.
