Canadian singer Michael Buble has confirmed his eldest son, Noah, has been diagnosed with cancer.

In a statement shared on Facebook, Buble, 41, revealed that the three-year-old is currently receiving treatment in the US and asks for fans to pray for his recovery. Buble's wife Luisana Lopilato is said to have rushed from Buenos Aires to the US after growing concerned over Noah's health.

Disclosing the news, a statement posted on Buble's Facebook page stated: "We are devastated about the recent cancer diagnosis of our oldest son Noah who is currently undergoing treatment in the US. We have always been very vocal about the importance of family and the love we have for our children.

"Luisana and I have put our careers on hold in order to devote all our time and attention to helping Noah get well. At this difficult time, we ask only for your prayers and respect for our privacy. We have a long journey in front of us and hope that with the support of family, friends and fans around the world, we will win this battle, God willing."

The Grammy-winning singer is believed to have been in London after appearing on the BBC's One Show on 3 November but rushed to the US after Lopilato, 29, informed him of their son's poor health. Argentinian publication La Nacion first reported that doctors feared Noah had been suffering from mumps but later discovered it to be cancer.

Buble and Lopilato are also parents to nine-month-old son Elias. The Mirror reports that Buble will no longer embark on a tour in 2017 while his hosting duties at the Brit Awards in February are now uncertain. The singer is believed to split his time between his native Canada and Buenos Aires.

It is not the first time there have been concerns over Noah's health. In June 2015 at 22-months-old, Noah was rushed to an Argentinian hospital after suffering burns from scalding water at home. Recalling their fears in an interview shortly after, Lopilato told Luz magazine: "At one point the doctors told me they'd have to do skin grafts but thank God it started healing little by little. For a long time he has to use elastic bands pressed tight so he's not left with scars."

In October, Buble explained how fatherhood had changed his outlook on life, telling Entertainment Tonight of his children: "I love them more than I'll ever love anything, or anyone in the whole universe. I think it gave me perspective on life that I think I very badly needed. It's hard to be able to quantify that level of love.

"I didn't know that level of love existed. But it makes me better at everything. It allows me to pull more emotion and be more honest and to be in the moment. The only regret that I have in my life is that I took this long to have kids, because I had no idea the perspective it would give me. I had no idea how much I would love being a dad."
