At least six people have been killed when a gunman randomly opened fire on people in Kalamazoo County in the US state of Michigan. The suspect is thought to be a white man in his 50s driving around in a car.

"We had several shootings tonight in the county and in the city of Kalamazoo. They all appear to be related. We have multiple people dead. We have somebody who is just driving around finding people and shooting them dead in their tracks," Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Paul Matyas told 24 Hour News 8. Police say the gunman, who is still at large, was driving a blue Chevy HHR.

The shooter sprayed bullets in at least three places in the area and none of the victims are thought to have any connection. One woman was shot multiple times in the Meadows Townhomes in Richland Township. Ambulances and heavy police personnel are at the scene.
