Miley Cyrus has added fuel to the rumours she has split from fiance Liam Hemsworth with a series of cryptic Instagram posts. The speculation comes just days after the Wrecking Ball singer was pictured without her engagement ring suggesting that her rocky romance with the Hunger Games actor is over once again.

In one Instagram picture, Cyrus, 23, can be seen holding a message which reads: "Live through consciousness, not through emotion," while another shows her left hand clearly missing the ring she has worn over the last couple of months on her engagement finger. Alluding to her melancholic mood, another photo of Cyrus' cat is accompanied with the caption: "When life is simple for animals it is beautiful."

The We Can't Stop singer was first seen without her engagement ring on 14 March when she was pictured leaving her apartment in Manhattan, New York. The on/off couple have not confirmed or addressed their reported reconciliation since rumours emerged in January 2016 but multiple sources claim they have been sharing a home together in Malibu.

Eyewitnesses have spotted them together on several occasions, including a Golden Globes party on 8 January where they were allegedly "kissing and holding hands". However, an insider claims Hemsworth, 26, has given Cyrus an ultimatum in an attempt to stop her from smoking marijuana. The source told InTouch Weekly: "They recently had a huge fight. Liam told Miley he wants her to quit pot. He can't believe how often she gets high. Every day Liam comes home and the entire house reeks of weed. He's so annoyed. Miley still smokes a ton of pot and it drives Liam crazy."

Cyrus and Hemsworth began dating in June 2009 after starring alongside each other in romance drama The Last Song. The couple announced their engagement three years later in June 2012 but ended their relationship in September 2013.
