Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth split: Patrick Schwarzenegger's girlfriend still in love with Hunger Games actor

American singer/actress Miley Cyrus is reportedly still in love with former fiancé Australian actor Liam Hemsworth.

Though the former Disney star is dating Patrick Schwarzenegger, a source told Hollywood Life that the Hunger Games actor will always have "an important part of her heart."

"Miley loves Liam, she has never felt that way about anyone before and he will always have an important part of her heart," a source told the website. "But she knows that it will never come back and she will never be in a relationship with him ever again."

"That is why she is enjoying her time with Patrick. She really is having fun with him, it's working out. It is not love, it's lust but it is a relationship that seems like it will last a while. They are having fun. Liam isn't in the picture," the insider added.

Hemsworth and Cyrus started dating in 2009, when they co-starred in the Nicholas Sparks film, The Last Song.

In 2012, the 24-year-old actor proposed to Cyrus with a 3.5-carat Neil Lane diamond ring.

The couple made their last public appearance together at the premiere of his film Paranoia at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles, before Hemsworth officially announced his split from the Wrecking Ball singer.

Previously, in an interview with Elle magazine, Cyrus had confessed that she thought she would die without her Disney career and Hemsworth.

"When I went through a really intense breakup — you know, I was engaged — and when I was with him [Hemsworth] or when I was on Disney, the thing that gave me the most anxiety was not knowing what to do with myself when Disney wasn't there to carry me anymore or if I didn't have him.

"And now I'm free of both of those things, and I'm fine. Like, I lay in bed at night by myself and I'm totally okay, and that's so much stronger than the person three years ago, who would have thought they would have died if they didn't have a boyfriend," Cyrus said.

Meanwhile, Cyrus started off the New Year with a kiss from the 21-year-old son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver.

She posted an image of the pair getting intimate at a party on Instagram with the caption: "2015."
