Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger are reportedly taking a break from their rocky relationship, after just five months of being together.

The couple reportedly first faced relationship trouble in March when Schwarzenegger was seen getting close to another woman when holidaying in Cabo San Lucas for spring break and now it seems as though the Wrecking Ball singer is tired of fighting for the USC student's attention.

The pair were seen having lunch earlier in April but haven't been spending a lot of time together recently, opting to have more time apart with their own friends rather than as a couple.

Cyrus spent this last weekend in Big Sur with her best friend Cheyne Thomas, while Schwarzenegger partied away with friends at music festival, Coachella.

An insider even told E! News that "no one has seen them together around USC". They went on to suggest that "if they're hanging out he's not bringing her around as much as in the beginning."

Despite the couple's distance sparking up rumours of a break-up, sources close to Cyrus claim that it will only be temporary – if Schwarzenegger decides to fight for the We Can't Stop hitmaker.

"Miley wasn't convinced Patrick was trying hard enough to win her heart back after the spring break scandal, so she got pissed. She wanted to prove to herself that she could have fun on her own without him," a source told Hollywood Life.

"She decided a break would be best with the full intention for it to be a break only. If he really wants her in his life, he will convince her to take him back and not be on a break."
