Facebook year in review 2015
The most popular topics discussed on Facebook in 2015 were mostly about politics, terrorism and entertainment Facebook

Politics dominated our topics of conversation on Facebook in 2015. The General Election was the most talked-about topic among UK users, followed by the Labour leadership election in second, the Paris terror attacks in third, and the civil war and refugee crisis of Syria in fourth.

Next came the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the BBC's sacking of Jeremy Clarkson and the Rugby World Cup. The top 10 was rounded off by the boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, the Glastonbury Festival and earthquakes in Nepal.

Globally, the US presidential election, which is still 11 months away, was the most talked-about topic on Facebook in 2015. The Paris attacks, Syria, Nepal and the Greek debt crisis were the next most talked-about issues among Facebook's 1.5 bn users.

Ed Sheeran was the most popular entertainer globally, followed by Taylor Swift, Kanye West, Nicky Jam and Wiz Khalifia. Game of Thrones was the most popular TV show and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which is yet to be released in cinemas, topped the chart for film gossip.

Barack Obama and Donald Trump were the first and second most talked-about politicians globally. None from the UK ranked in the top 10 worldwide.

Finally, the most popular place in the UK for Facebook users to check in was the Harry Potter set at Warner Bros Studios in London.

As the year draws to a close, we remember what brought us together in 2015, and look forward the connections we'll make in 2016.
