Overview

The Mumbai Indians sealed a place in the final after a comfortable victory over the Super Kings in Qualifier 1. Rohit Sharma's side set a target of 181 and CSK fell short by 25.

The defeat for M S Dhoni's side forced them to feature in Qualifier 2, where they took on the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The match was played in Ranchi in eastern India and Virat Kohli's men posted a modest score of 139 for the loss of eight wickets.

Opening batsman Michael Hussey's controlled knock of 56 helped Chennai seal a three-wicket victory with just one ball to spare. The two-time IPL champions enter the sixth IPL final in eight years.

After a string of reverses, the Mumbai Indians have won seven of their last eight matches and would be looking to lift the IPL trophy for the second time. The players are clicking as a unit and the openers Parthiv Patel and Lendl Simmons have given them a good start.

The Chennai Super Kings have been hampered by the absence of dashing opener Brendon McCullum. The New Zealander had to leave to join his national team which is touring England. Another worry for CSK is Suresh Raina's failure to fire in the last couple of matches.

In the bowling area, Ashish Nehra has been among the wickets and CSK has a number of options.
