Mumbai Indians will take on Rising Pune Supergiant in Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 scheduled between the two franchises at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 16 May, Tuesday.

Rohit Sharma's side finished on top of the table after the completion of the first round of matches. Having won 10 of their 14 matches, they clinched 20 points and were two points ahead of second place Supergiant.

The Qualifier 1 is placed between the top two teams and the winner of the clash will make it to the final. The losing team will then get another chance to make it to the final as they will face the winner of Eliminator, which will be played between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders on 17 May.

Mumbai Indians were leading the table for the majority of the 10th edition of the IPL. However, it was Steven Smith led side who were successful in eclipsing Kolkata Knight Riders for the second spot in the table.

The two sides faced each other twice so far in the tournament and Rising Pune Supergiant won on both occasions. Ben Stokes and Imran Tahir were two key players when their side registers two wins over Mumbai Indians this season.

Both Stokes and Tahir will miss Qualifier 1 as they have left the Supergiant for South Africa's upcoming series against England. The duo's miss will be a big blow for the Pune outfit.

Mumbai will rely heavily on Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard and Harbhajan Singh to help them make it to the final. The latter along with Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah will have a key role to play on Tuesday.
